Embroidery & Beading
Embroidery & Bespoke Development
The Sampling Studio London, embroidery begins with skilled hands and an idea that deserves to become something exceptional.
Through our network of specialist embroiderers, beaders and craftspeople, including our partner studio in India, we give designers and private clients access to techniques, craftsmanship and development possibilities that are increasingly difficult to find. Artwork can be developed from an initial drawing, photograph, vintage reference or simply an idea, before being sampled and refined specifically for the garment.
Our experience includes developing embroidery for fashion houses including Balmain, Elie Saab, Marchesa, Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford. Our embroidery work has also appeared on pieces created for Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour and Cate Blanchett.
This level of craftsmanship is not reserved for established fashion houses.
From London, we bring together design, pattern cutting, fitting, sampling and specialist handwork, allowing an emerging designer, an international client or someone creating a single extraordinary piece to access the same world of development normally associated with luxury ateliers.
For our clients in London, Paris, Milan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and internationally, this means there is no need to arrive with a fully resolved design. You can come to us with a sketch, an inspiration, a fabric, an archive reference or the beginnings of a collection. We help translate it into something that can actually be made.
For bridal and private commissions, this can mean developing an entirely bespoke embroidery that exists nowhere else: hand-beaded flowers, crystal work, pearls, three-dimensional appliqué, metallic embroidery or intricate surfaces developed around the cut and movement of the dress.
For emerging brands, we can take the same approach further, developing an embroidery language that becomes recognisable to the collection and can be carried into future seasons.
Our relationship with specialist craftspeople also allows us to explore different levels of execution according to the project and budget, from beautifully considered details to extremely intricate couture-level handwork.
Most importantly, the process remains personal. We do not simply send artwork away and wait for something to return. We develop, sample, edit and refine, looking at how the embroidery works with the pattern, proportion, fabric and final silhouette.
Behind every piece are highly skilled craftspeople whose knowledge has been passed through generations. By continuing to commission this work, we help sustain specialist employment and keep traditional hand-beading and embroidery techniques in practice while placing them within contemporary fashion.
Whether you are building your first collection, developing a luxury label, commissioning a wedding dress or simply have the ambition to create something you cannot find anywhere else, The Sampling Studio gives you access to the people, techniques and development infrastructure to make it possible.
You bring the idea. We bring together the hands capable of making it real.
